Pre and post event massage

  • Pre and post event sports massage is designed to help athletes or sportspeople perform to their best and recover as quickly and effectively as possible. Whether you are a professional athlete or an amateur training at a high level of intensity and looking to improve and enhance your performance, ideally you should already be including deep tissue massage into your weekly training regime as a preventative means before leaving it to late and using it as an injury rehabilitation.

    Pre event can be done anytime from 2 days before to immediately before an event.  It is a vital part of the warm-up prior to exercise. Creating heat in the muscles will prepare them for the upcoming event, also allowing for range of movement and gentle stretching to prepare the body.

    Post event should be done as soon as after the event to help decrease muscle soreness and re-establish the range of motion and blood flow to tight muscles.  It can help give the athlete a psychological lift. Post event massage helps to calm the nervous system,  and will help to remove fluid, restore blood flow and muscles.  This will help the athlete with recovery and will help give them a  psychological boost.
